Young
Devon - Young Devon have a 60 year history of supporting young people, particularly
those who are vulnerable or facing multiple barriers to them achieving their
potential in life, such as young carers, care leavers, young parents or those
living with violence or alcohol misuse in their families.
We provide a range of innovative services including Supported Housing Projects
(providing over 200 homeless young people with accommodation and support 365
days a year), advice and guidance through our YES Centres in accessible high
street locations, supporting 1500 young people to contribute in their communities
through the national v youth volunteering initiative and providing positive
activities that encourage productive use of leisure time and reverse the culture
of negative perceptions of todays young citizens.
Our most recent exciting venture is the refurbishment of Newton Abbot’s
former snooker hall into the new Change Academy, a youth social enterprise
centre aiming to develop leadership and enterprise potential through its exciting
new youth cafe, media creativity suite, photography studio, live music venue
and community cycle renovation scheme.
Young Devon are a charity and rely on grants and donations to ensure our work
in transforming communities and young people’s lives can continue to
have high impact on social exclusion.
